U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft
U.S. Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20530-0001

Dear Mr. Attorney General,

The United States Department of Justice decision to
include Pakistan in the list of the Countries who
visitors are required to register with INS has not
only come as shock to us but also an eye opener that
the current administration is working without any
principles, ethics, morality and conscientiousness.

Pakistan is and has been the Country who has been with
the United States from day one. The history of
collaboration and working together is longer than most
Countries. Pakistan has suffered very significantly
financially as well as politically but the support
that Pakistan provides to the US has been unstinted.
The President and Secretary of State have on multiple
occasions publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s friendship
and overwhelming support to us.

I am sure some of the shortsighted individuals in the
administration may be able to give a few petty
arguments supporting this wrong and extremely
irresponsible decision. The message that is being sent
out in a very obvious way is that, if anyone in the
world belongs to the faith of Islam, they will have to
face hardships, discrimination, and organized hatred
by some in the current administration in the United
States. This is irrespective if they have been our
friends, have been peace loving, caring and been our
supporters through every difficult time in our recent
history. I think that the US Department of Justice
civil rights division should take urgent notice of the
decisions and actions of the US Department of Justice.
Pakistan, and the people of Pakistan are our friends,
and taking actions and making decisions that will
alienate our allies should be immediately be reversed.

Sadly,
