I would like to share my registration experience with every one. I arrived at the Newark INS office at 3pm, There were around 20-30 people waiting ahead of me. I went to the counter and gave the receptionist my passport, and she told me to have a seat for me to be called. While I was waiting i came to find out that people have been here since 6am, due the network being down they are still waiting. I was called at 6pm when there were only 4-5 people who had arrived after me. I was not disappointed basically because it was first come first serve basis. I am a student and I am waiting for my OPT (practical training). Basic questions were asked like name, address, father's name, mothers name, credit card number, SS card, license, address in Pakistan and etc. The lady conducting the interview was very polite, linear and professional. My final conclusion about the registration process is that everyone should go and do it, Do not be worried, if you are in status u are perfectly fine if you have a doubt about your status or you are out of status consult a lawyer and take a $1500 bail bond with you. The worst that could happen to you is that you will be detained (i.e. put in jail for 1 night until your bail is posted) and the judge will let you go and give you another date to fight your case.
