Case 7

Location: Los Angeles
Date: Jan 14th, 2003

My husband registered on Tuesday and we thought we would share our experiences and information with other Pakistanis. Firstly, we would suggest registering earlier rather than towards the end of the deadline as the queue right now is not too long: it took about 3 hours, as compared to 9 hours towards the end of the deadline when the queue is much longer. take the following documents proof of legal residence (H1B) and previous H1B if applicable proof of where you're working: pay stubs proof of where you're living: utility or credit card bills for the past three months passport letter from employer proof that you've been paying taxes while residing in the US, i.e. W2 we meticulously went thru our files and got a whole packet of documents together as outlined above.  I would urge others to do the same also the INS officer who registered my husband said that towards the end of the deadline there is a sudden rush of people and even if you get there in the morning you can be waiting till 7.30pm for your turn, so go now, don't wait till the last day. good luck!
