COMMUNITY OUTREACH
INTERN
COPO is seeking an
intern to work in our
Outreach department.
Position to begin in
January 2004; end date
negotiable.
The intern will work on
a variety of projects.
Tasks would include:
1. Liaison with
the community members,
2. Assessing their
needs, and
3. Increasing awareness
about COPO's programs in
our neighborhoods.
4. She/ He will also be
responsible for planning
and carrying out a
survey.
5. Publicizing events of
COPO in the community
through written, oral,
and electronic
communications.
Position is unpaid;
however, reasonable
transit costs will be
reimbursed. A creative,
enthusiastic, organized,
and outgoing person will
get the most out of this
position.

DEVELOPMENT INTERN
COPO is seeking an
intern to work in our
Development department.
Position to begin in
January 2004; end date
negotiable. The intern
will work on a variety
of projects.
Tasks would include:
1. Grant applications
and monitoring
. Organize files and a
calendar for
foundations, and the
like to track and
maintain records of
grant cycles, grants
submitted, and the like
[hard copies and
electronic files];
. Draft grant
applications for review
with the Development
Director and/or other
appropriate staff and
Board members; submit
final grant
applications
in a timely way;
2. Other fundraising
activities:
. Work in direct
connection with the
financial staff and
Board to track funding
efforts, update budgets
for grant proposals,
donor acknowledgment and
management, etc.;
. Delineate and
implement a
comprehensive
fundraising strategy for
other fundraising
efforts, to include (but
not limited to):
o direct mailings;
o phone calling to
supporters and potential
supporters;
o special events and
fundraising activities
locally and nationally;
. Create a funding
portfolio and
promotional material
with the assistance of
staff and Board members
to cultivate foundation,
religious
institutions, and major
donors.
. Present a plan for the
use of volunteers and
Board members and others
for fundraising to be
discussed with staff and
Board, as appropriate.
Position is unpaid;
however, reasonable
transit costs will be
reimbursed.

and detail-oriented
thinker will get the

GLOBAL PROJECT INTERN
COPO is seeking an
intern to work for our
Global initiative
project in the South
Asian region. Position
to begin in January
2004; A minimum
commitment of one year
desirable.
Tasks would include:
1. Research and
development
. Organize files for
organizations in the
South Asian region with
Social Justice Agenda in
their mission, and
having grassroots
activism. [Hard copies
and electronic files].
Correspond with them on
behalf of the project in
consultation with the
Project Director
regarding the project.
2. Other
responsibilities
. Work in direct
connection with the
program director to
track efforts,update
files for the project,
etc.;
. Plan the event in
consultation with the
project director.
. Create a funding
portfolio and
promotional material for
the project to cultivate
foundations, and other
funding sources.
. Draft grants
applications for review
with the Project
Director.
Position is unpaid;
however, reasonable
transit costs will be
reimbursed.
A creative, organized,
and detail-oriented
person interested in
international exposure
and the South Asian
region will get the most
out of this position.
