Point of Attack, a documentary by Kathleen Foster,
chronicles the post-911 racial profiling, large-scale
round-ups, detentions and mass deportations of Arab,
Muslim and South Asian men as part of the government's
"War on Terrorism." The film frames the plight of
these immigrant communities within the broader context
of the US government's "other war" against civil
liberties that is being waged via the USA Patriot Act.
"This important film is a damning indictment of how
the government over-reacted after 9/11, singling out
and targeting people who had nothing to do with
terrorism. It should have the widest possible
distribution and viewing by the American public."

Proceeds from the event are critical to support the
work of SAHR ( Solidarity Action for Human Rights), a
grassroots organization that assists primarily, but
not exclusively, the South Asian communities of
Brooklyn. SAHR provides direct assistance and helps
secure financial and legal assistance from other
sources. For example, SAHR secured rent for one
individual rendered homeless after being detained as
part of post 9-11 immigration sweeps. SAHR is also a
part of a coalition effort to organize victims of the
government's Special Registration policy to demand
accountability and the termination of almost 14,000
deportation proceedings.
Kathleen Foster, the filmmaker for Point of Attack, is
a member of the board of directors. Other board
members include Rev. Elizabeth Braddon, Dr. Jane
Carleton, Adem Carroll, Jose Rosa, and Pui Wong.
