On Friday, March 19, 2004, AAARI will be
holding a South Asian
Conference at Baruch College, from 9:00AM to
2:00PM. The main purpose
of
the South Asian Conference is to bring
together scholars and students
who are engaged in the study of South Asian
communities in the United
States, particularly those in the tri-state
area. We plan on inviting
scholars/experts who will present their
research on South Asian
communities, e.g. India, Pakistan,
Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Through this conference, it is hoped that a
dialogue between the South
Asian community and the Institute will be
opened, attracting students,
teachers and leaders from business,
community organizations and
professions. For more information about the
conference, please visit
http://www.aaari.info/saconference.htm
AAARI would be most appreciative if you
would point us toward
individuals who are knowledgeable about
Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri
Lankan, or Nepali communities in the United
States, and who would be
interested in presenting their work at our
conference. Prof. Parmatma
Saran, Chairman of the Conference, is
already working on the Indian
community, so that would not be our top
priority at this time. Once
again, thank you very much for your support
of AAARI. Please do not
hesitate to contact me at 212-869-0182 if
you have any questions
Sincerely,
Thomas Tam, Ph.D., M.P.H.
